The gold colour of HERRON Gold Paracetamol tablets and tabsules is due to the titanium dioxide (171) and iron oxides (yellow, red and black (172)) included in the coating.

Does HERRON Gold Paracetamol contain "Sunset Yellow"?
Absolutely not! HERRON Gold Paracetamol uses natural colouring agents - titanium dioxide (171) and iron oxides (yellow, red and black (172)).

Is HERRON Gold Paracetamol flavoured?
HERRON Gold Paracetamol tablets are flavoured with a hint of vanilla. For those with a preference for unflavoured, HERRON Gold Paracetamol tabsules contain no flavouring.

What is it used for?

Paracetamol works by blocking the transmission of chemicals in the brain and the central nervous system to relieve pain and reduce fever. Paracetamol is the active ingredient in HERRON Gold Paracetamol.

HERRON Gold Paracetamol reduces fever and provides effective temporary relief of mild to moderate pain including headache, sinus headache, osteoarthritis, arthritic and rheumatic pain and muscular aches, sore throat, and toothache. It also helps to relieve the symptoms and discomfort associated with colds and flu. It is considered a suitable first line, short term treatment for common "every day" aches and pains.

Is it suitable for me?

There are very few groups of people that should not take paracetamol. It can be used during pregnancy and whilst breast feeding.

People who are sensitive to aspirin or other pain relieving medication can usually take it
It does not interfere with other medications however it should not be taken if these other medication contain paracetamol
It is kind to the stomach
It does not have any unwanted gastrointestinal side effects
It does not interfere with blood clotting and can be used by patients taking low dose aspirin to thin the blood
It is the preferred first line pain reliever for asthma sufferers
It is well tolerated by patients with peptic ulcers
Paracetamol can be taken on an empty stomach
At the recommended dosage, side effects are rare and usually mild

Solid dose tablet forms are not recommended for children under 7 years of age. Children or adolescents should not take this medicine for longe than 48 hours at a time unless advised to by a doctor.

Physical description

Tablets: dull gold, round film coated tablet with break-bar on one side, hint of vanilla flavour

Tabsules: dull gold, film coated capsule shaped tablet with break-bar

Capseals: half red and half white gelatin coated capsule

Composition

Tablets & Tabsules

Paracetamol 500mg.
Also contains: starch- maize, silica colloidal anhydrous. cellulose-microcrystalline, povidone, croscarmellose sodium, stearic acid. Coating consists of vanillin, ammonium glycyrrhizinate, hypromellose, titanium dioxide (171), glycerol triacetate (Triacetin), and iron oxides (yellow, red, black (172)).

Capseals

Paracetamol 500mg.
Also contains: starch - pregelatinised maize, povidone, stearic acid. Coating consists of: hypromellose, gelatin, silica colloidal anhydrous, sodium lauryl sulfate, allura red (129) and titanium dioxide (171).

Dosage

Adults and children over 12 years of age: 1 - 2 (maximum 8 per 24 hours)

Children (7 - 12 years of age): 1/2 - 1 (maximum 4 per 24 hours)

Take with water every 4 - 6 hours if necessary. Keep to the recommended dose.

Cautions

Do not use if over-wrap seal on carton is broken or missing
Do not use if foil on blisters is broken

WARNINGS

Do not take this medicine for any longer than 48 hours at a time unless advised by a doctor
Not recommended for children under 7 years of age
Do not take with other products containing paracetamol, unless advised by a doctor or pharmacist
If an overdose is taken or suspected, ring the Poisons Information Centre (131 126) and go to a hospital straight away even if you feel well because of the risk of delayed serious liver damage
Use only as directed and consult your doctor if symptoms persist
